Description:
The 8000-2 is a total electrical system analyzer which enables you to find electric power inefficiencies. It combines the best features of:
A true RMS Voltmeter and RMS Clamp-on Ammeter (for effective real time troubleshooting
Oscilloscope (Scope Mode for real time waveform analysis
An event monitor (records out-of-limit conditions for any parameter)
Phase angle meter (analyzes phase imbalances)
Harmonic distortion analyzer (provides harmonic information as required by IEEE 519 and IEC 555-2)
Neutral-to-ground monitor
Motor inrush monitor
A demand and energy use analyzer
But with all its power and multi-functionality, the Dranetz 8000-2 is easy to use. Generally, three types of screens appear: menu selection screens, programming screens, and data screens.
Make selections from menu screens and enter numerical data for programming screens using the 8000-2's numeric keypad. Programming and data screens have an option bar containing up to six options across the bottom of the screen. Press the function key below an option to select it.

Measurements Specifications:
Synchronization:
The 8000-2 uses phase locked synchronous sampling over the frequency ranges of 46 - 64 Hz and 380 - 440 Hz. The sample clock is derived from, and is an exact multiple of, an incoming voltage signal (any valid and available voltage is used). The valid signal for locking must be periodic and greater than 30 V RMS. All accuracy specifications are valid over this frequency range. The unit is also capable of simulating synchronous sampling using an internally generated clock for input frequency in the range of 20 - 450 Hz. The user must enter this desired frequency through the configuration menu.
Phase:
The 8000-2 samples all eight channels simultaneously to maintain the phase relationship among them.
Resolution:
Presented data is always limited to the display resolution of ±1/2 count. Internal resolution of the 8000-2 allows measuring voltage steps of 0.07 volts. Channel D low range resolution is 0.007 volts. Resolution for current measurements is dependent on which CT probe and which input channel is used.

Harmonics Specifications:
Harmonics:
The 8000-2 performs a harmonic analysis using a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) algorithm. The accuracy of any given reading is dependent on several factors including amplitude of the input signal, the distortion level, and the distribution of the individual harmonic components.
Updating:
All harmonic related parameters are updated once every five seconds.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD):
Calculated using the individual harmonic components that result from the FFT.
Displacement Power Factor (DPF):
A direct result of the FFT that indicated the phase relationship of voltage to current at the fundamental frequency of a given channel. This value will agree with the (true) power factor only when the signals are pure sine waves.
